1970 Photo of me in Liberty High School varsity football cheerleader uniform was taken in our front yard in the country,. . . .located close to Rt-122S Sign Rock, just off Dickerson Mill Road.

I like the white wagon wheels in background,… Used by Mom to support a red rambling rose. Our 0.1-mile drive way off Dickerson Mill Road is behind me …That driveway had a circular drive loop before continuing to the back of our house (where we parked), and to the house next door (where Aunt Nancy & Uncle Joe lived w/cousins Ginger & Joey), & on to end at the barn gate & yard. Guests parked in that circular drive behind me. Back behind the barn, as the crow flies about 0.5-miles just off Fiddler’s Creek Road is Mrs. Royalty’s home place,…where I once saw a telegraph for water (as described in my sksskh story “H2O x Change” on Sound Cloud).

The front yard entrance was flanked by dual red maple trees and twin lamp posts covered in ivy. Mother said the lanterns were from a carriage of horse & buggy days. The walkway, consisting of large, flat river rocks embedded flush with the ground, started at the twin lamp posts and lead to our front door, I’m sitting on, or very nearly on, on our country sidewalk in this photo. Speaking of horse & buggy rides, Dad his mother packed biscuits in her purse for long rides… Which reminded me of my self packing pockets/backpacks with nabs (packs of peanut butter crackers) for trips into NYC. She must’ve had low blood sugar aka fast metabolism issues too. Mine were borderline hypoglycemic (tested negative for hypoglycemia though). My NJ & NY friends teased me saying “don’t yous guys know we’ve got food in the city”… & I’d say “yeah, but not always where you need it, & when you need it…if I pack it, it’s guaranteed.” 🙂
Visitors were greeted at the screened front porch entrance of a >200-yo 2-story tin roofed farmhouse , complete with a floppy screen door. The kind secured with a small metal hook & eye closure. Inside the front door was the coolest living room with hardwood floor covered with a green oval braided rug, hardwood open beam ceiling, & a gorgeous rock fireplace & chunky dark wood mantel. Those ceiling beams looked like walnut and were/are at least 15-feet long & 3-inches wide. A huge tree(s) supplied those beams. The unique rock fireplace was constructed of field stone by Walker Leftwich (the grandfather of Jennings Leftwich LHS ’72 Class.).
Our approx. 40-acre “hobby” farm was/is referred to as the “Walker Leftwich home place” since it belonged to that family for many years. It had a spring, creek, pond, barn, dog kennel, grey wood shed garage, small 4-room house used for storage, garden, pastures, hayfield, garden & honey bee stands. Our “Smith home place” for many years… approx. 1966 to 1983.

Dad raised black angus & put one in the freezer every year…. Ugh, involved the dreaded task of wrapping the cuts of meat in freezer paper & labeling for storage. Dad also kept a milk cow many years. So, we never bought milk at the store when I was a kid. Instead we drank unprocessed, filtered whole-milk, homemade buttermilk & churned our butter too (made those 3″tall x 4″diameter butter rounds with a metal mold)…. The home made, hand cranked peach custard-style ice cream was the best ice cream anywhere…better than any store bought stuff. Dad kept an old industrial milk chiller in the coal shed. the fresh milk from that chiller was the very best tasting milk ever. Dad worked at the Sealtest Dairy processing plant until it closed. His brother Benuce worked there as well as a man named Buster and their boss Fred. Dad, Buster & Benuce did everything from butter fat testing to mowing the lawn. They wore white uniforms. I used to love hanging out at this plant watching the farmers load their milk cans on a conveyor belt that took them through swinging doors into the plant. I’d go inside to watch Dad et al dump the milk into a large tank, run tests & process it… Tracing lines of process flow and quizzing them all as to what each step /tank was for… I now realize that this was my first encounter with an industrial process & traced pipe & understood that process as if I was already a chemical engineer. Dad went to work at Rubatex when the Sealtest plant closed. I heard much about Rubatex operations from Dad, but never toured that plant.My ‘job’ at home was to make ‘scratch’ buttermilk biscuits daily for supper (dinner = lunch in the country). As a teenager I sewed most of my own clothes since most suited me better than off-the rack commercial pieces… Plus it was a bargain… More clothes for the money, yeah! Nowadays it’s the opposite cost-wise.

We had hogs & chickens (fryers & laying)..even a mule used to plough the garden… Before Dad got a tiller & tractor. We canned vegetables & beef, made 14-day pickles, etc too. Hence, we didn’t buy much from the grocery store. He also kept a kennel full of beagles & foxhounds… Probably 30-40 max. I believe his kennel license limit was 60. I was his “surgeon” for ” doctoring on the dogs while he held them steady. . . During minor removal procedures to address splinters, thorns, & fishhooks.
At which time the farmhouse & out-buildings & ~15-acres were sold & my parents built a brick ranch style home on the remaining 25-acres with pond, vegetable & rose garden, spring, creek, pasture, woods & honeybee strands…also with new barn & new metal sky-lighted garage, designed & constructed by Dad. Garaged his tractor, workbench, & tools since his truck & car were parked on the carport.
BTW, I often helped with those smokin’ beekeeping tasks off-bee-veil… I got the rag smoking in the smoker… While Dad wore the coveralls & bee hat with veil netting… He brought the wood hive section to the back porch or picnic table… Where I’d put the new strip of honeycomb in each rack.. Filing each rack a third of the way with new “starter” honeycomb. Not sure if he wanted it that way to save money on honeycomb or if it’s a best for the bees technique … He only said “it’s all the bees need to get started”. Personally, I would have preferred to fill each rack with and entire sheet of honeycomb starter cause it was a pain to cut the stuff in those smaller strips & secure in the wooden rack.
Thus, our present day Smith hobby farm (approx. 30-yo) still sports angus cattle grazing the pasture… Courtesy of cousin Nathan, & Ronnie/Pete too… I forget which.
So when I say… I grew up in a different era… I truly did. At least it seems that way to me. As did my Dad. He used to think longingly back to the days of his youth. . . & described it as a time when a guy could walk for many miles though woods & fields and not have to cross a fence… Let alone see a house. There were no cars or emissions from vehicles.. . . Only horses & buggies. So whenever I feel like we had a country frontier ‘ Mother Earth News’ lifestyle, I think about how it must have been for him, ..,back in the day of “open land” unbounded by many fences or developments…feeling truly free. No wonder Dad, & I loathe crowds, traffic & manmade plastic fake garbage…
I feel re my hand made clothes, paintings, baskets, pillows, art, etc just as Dad did…. as he once said about a gate he’d made:
“It ain’t pretty, but it serves the purpose. Its better built than store-bought, & will last longer too. I’m happy with it & that’s all that matters.” Much like me, he didn’t care about appearances, only functionality.
It’s no wonder people nowadays are ” out of touch ” with the earth, self-sufficiency, environmental sustainability & themselves. Seems to me the so called “civilized man” has much to learn. . . .as he has failed to understand the wisdom of Native American words in regard to respecting & taking proper care of our earth.

Alcohol Was My Friend

Alcoholism — FB posting by friend….

“This is one of my favorite books. I need to read some more classics this book is a must read in my opinion a great literary work of art.”
~~~~ looked up the book…..
John Barleycorn is an autobiographical novel by Jack London dealing with his enjoyment of and struggles with alcoholism. It was published in 1913. The title is taken from the British folksong “John Barleycorn”.
My personal notes on alcohol….
Sounds like a good read.  My grandfather was a painter & alcoholic… Lifelong.  Oddly/sadly he did everything ‘wrong’…smoked at least a pack a day, always drank, never without a bottle… Cursed constantly at the tv newscasters…Yet he had 11children & lived to 83 yo…. When they amputated a leg due to diabetes, in his 70s, they took a very long time to get him his prosthetic leg…. So he said “If I knew it was going to take this long, I would have whittled me a damn leg!” ….I played Chinese Checkers with him as often as I could.
Admired his strength, cause in the end he had lung & throat  cancer, but when the hospital wanted to give him painkillers to get him thru the end…he said “no way, I don’t want to miss a single minute…so get me my discharge papers”… While he waited for the papers ( prepared against doctor’s orders), he & his youngest daughter chain smoked cigarettes ..,,she had smuggled into his hospital room ….she was close to my age, we used to climb green apple trees together …we’d take a salt shaker to season the apples we ate…..
After being in an alcoholic stupor much of his life…he went home to die…. without any painkillers.  He did not survive long, maybe a month….I suspect he used some alcohol for the pain, but not that much…. It had to be the most sober month of his entire life. I will be forever amazed at his strength that final month.
I suspect I inherited his alcohol gene… Luckily my parents did forbid any alcohol.  At age 18, I got their permission to sample wine on a high school trip to France…ha, before sampling the wine…on the day we arrived …me and a couple other girls met some boys (pix in my France album) who showed us around the town of Tours, then offered us some Cognac…. My first taste of alcohol…thought it was yuck….later in the week sampled wine at a winery, not as yuck…so I bought 2 bottles to take home to VA for an upcoming high school graduation party hosted by my friend Glenn Johnson….But my parents freaked…they allowed only a taste…”a teaspoonful” they said, so when I told the what the 2 bottles of wine were for…they said in horror “what will the Johnson’s think???….I said “I dunno… Doubt they’ll say much, cause Glenn said they bought a case of cold duck.” 🙂
In college the next year I dated a marine who said I was drinking the wrong stuff… I did not like wine, beer, rum or cognac…. So he said I’d like sweeter drinks like piña coladas, etc… And those were much better… But not my drink of choice… Didn’t like the taste of rum at all…
Next I dated a fraternity guy, they had grain alcohol fruit punch at their parties…so far that seemed the best, until I found out my boyfriend kept his own private stash of a mix he thought I would not like… It was simply oj & vodka…. by the end of freshman year, that became my drink in college ….
A few years later I found out about the alcohol chemistry that was best tolerated was the one that made you less hung over cause  its chemical impurity profile ‘matched’ your body chemistry ….so the Smirnoff vodka was my match better than rum, wine, beer or anything….but not perfect… So I tried various brands of vodka… And found Absolut was it …Kettle1 is ok too, but found it many years after Absolut ….My fave drink for years was Absolut &cranberry …then I found roses lime juice w/olive &onion& Absolut was divine….
Then by 1990:  tasted tequila, Cuervo and thought yuck…but noticed it gave no headache or hangover… So margaritas became drink #2….also could handle Bailey’s gin&tonic….by 1996, started scuba diving with a bunch of drinkers that did Cuervo shots & slammers…..  after dives we’d sit by pool each afternoon & drink… a friend & I  both drank Absolut &lime juice…. Sometimes I would have a few shots of Cuervo on the side ….my friend Robin was more hardcore…her drink was mostly Absolut on the rocks……
Experimented lots with alcohol brands/types cause I sorta lived with the fear that I could be like grandpa… as much as social butterfly me seemed to like it… Found I could drink 3-4 Absolut drinks without having a hang over, even with 1-2 Cuervo shots in addition….. Only once did I get sick with Cuervo… But it was my fault, I had 5-6 shots along with some wine….that combo did not work for me…. I knew better, was just stupid.  This may be a dumb thing to tell a person trying to stop, but my thinking is to wean off the alcohol ….you need to drink something that does not make you sick or hungover…. Then eventually,  cut  the amount of that back as well… once you feel better ….I finally liked beer & wine with meals so I could get away from the vodka & tequila ….of course then I discovered martinis ….thought those were great ….as is Baileys  & White Russians….
However, after I had serious, surgery in 2009,…which took my hearing & balance nerves in one ear…I’ve been super dizzy, off balance in having my brain recalibrate balance signals with only one nerve instead of two. Nearly fall on my face sober at times,… daily struggles now…. So alcohol, I cannot do anymore…think of it fondly though, but it’s outta my life now.
My chemistry is wired so a few hard liquor impurity profiles do not give me hangovers, most of my dive buddies were like that too… Thus, I take it to mean I did get grandpa’s alcohol gene, but feared it like crazy…. Especially when co workers or others would say… ‘wow, you drink hardcore stuff’….well, other stuff made me sick….  & for me very little… Just  1-2 glasses of  beer, wine, or rum drink gave me a huge headache …. But never the vodka, gin, or Cuervo …alone or together, in any amount. Fave mixed are Long Island ice tea & marguerites & pirates pain killer.
Next to rum, my least fave drink is beer. . . However, once a Romanian friend in the Bahamas got me to stay up all night drinking beer with shots of Cuervo on the side… But he was interesting, so the beer was tolerable… LOL …those island boys had to be as much fun as my dive buddies & co-workers ….did stuff like…. ski club, softball league, bowling league, Jersey shore…. All with alcohol… One guy even had a battery operated blender for the beach…. Met an island guy in St. Lucia named ‘Innocent’ …. Yeah, right!!!! ….me 2  🙂
At any rate, that’s my long winded reason that book sounds interesting.  I cannot begin to know anything about how to stop it other than to find a substitute .  My substitute now is Doles Piña Colada juice & Mandarin orange or lemon water with a tiny bit of cranberry ginger ale.  In my entire alcohol escapade, I cannot recall a time where I had a drink at home alone.  It was very much a social activity for me to relax with friends.
Basically,… I could easily have been a drunk, …cause at my heaviest drinking I recall was after my divorce in the early 90s in NJ-NYC area……deep blues, but a fun area to live, great place to social drink…. NYC bar body shots included :)….of course my Italian colleague Lauretta (from Staten Island)  & I were in Halloween costume having just been in the Greenwich Village  parade…. Funniest outfit in the bar had to be the guy dressed as a tree…. Cool costume… Furniture costumes were neat too. I had on a hot pink feather wig with biker shorts & fishnet stockings… Luckily Laurette had the wig idea, cause otherwise I’d have died my hair pink… Always wanted pink hair for a day /week…. No idea why 🙂
In some weird way I think my experiments to control a buzz without getting drunk, sick or hungover were probably dangerous, but knowing my limits from those experiments also helped very much.  I dunno, maybe I was a miniature closet alcoholic and did not know it…. But now as much as I used to like it …my priorities have changed….thanks for the book info.
~~~ ☮❤☺~~~

Footnote: Please do not share this information with my mother. It could possibly upset her to think I put myself in ‘harm’s way ‘  by having a drink of alcohol of any kind.  The short story above may sound a bit carefree & flip, but I certainly had  / have a healthy respect for the toll that alcoholism can take on an individual / family.

‘Hate Map’ Origins of Racist, Homophobic, and Offensive Tweets

“The picture doesn’t look good for the Eastern states, although admittedly the bulk of the population is there as well. Areas in Virginia, North Carolina,….show up bright red on the map….” —article excerpt.

Disturbing info, shameful even, since Virginia is my home state. I am a white, heterosexual female of part Irish, Native American, & other undetermined heritage. I am not racist, nor homophobic, but for the life of me do not understand why certain of my relatives & friends are racist/homophobic. I lived thru the 50s-60s when civil rights movements were underway…. I remember picking up hateful kkk papers in our country driveway, and seeing hateful things on the tv news, I remember school integration when I was in 10th grade, and I also remember many dear friends I made as a result of integration…. I do not understand the racist mind process… Is it a fear of the unknown? Did you miss, or not understand, all of Dr. M. L. King’s beautiful speeches?  Different is threatening or fearful to a racist mind…. instead of interesting? People need to celebrate differences, because no two of us is alike… each being unique. I need a racist person to explain to me exactly how skin color impacts anything. It doesn’t. Racism is a learned feeling / attitude without any supporting rationale or basis whatsoever. That ugly habit of feeling hatred can be broken… Just like any other habit.  Seek help to break your addiction to hatred & racism… Replacing that feeling with peace, love, & happiness will cause you & everyone you come in contact with to have a much better life experience.  If you do not know where to turn for help, contact your local Episcopal church for a confidential appointment with a priest.  I trust you will find that meeting very helpful to you.imageA similiar approach can be used to address homophobia. My understanding of homophobes is that their thought process stems from fear & being misinformed,… Afraid it’s contagious… As in a disease or in brainwashing… It is neither.  To confirm this, & putting your fears to rest…. Ask your family doctor about it.  Misinformation, in part is also from fear of the unknown…. Which is human nature in some cases.  If you don’t know any gay people, then it makes it tough to determine just how alien are they relative to you & everyone else in your circle.  Gays are just lika a slice of society…good or bad, moral or amorale, kind or unkind, fat or skinny, etc. ….you get the idea… gay population behaviors = straight population behaviors.  Yet another reason some people do not support equality for gays is due to an erroneous religious belief that being gay is a learned condition that is evil or perverse…. Or a free will choice gone wrong. That belief system my friend, is pure hogwash. Being gay is a natural born condition… Supported by published scientific research. It is not evil or perverse, so you can relax about that…. A gay person is born that way genetically, so you cannot teach ‘straightness’ as a free will choice, ‘reprogram,’ or ‘unbrainwash’ away gayness.  It is simply not genetically, biologically possible.  God made everything, and in ‘his words’ in Genesis he said… He saw all that he’d made, and it was good….gay and/or straight,….all simply expaplained as being the natural variation within the scope of God’s design & creation of the universe. If you need help with your disrespectful & hatred feelings toward gays,…. especially your scriptural confusion… Then contact your local Episcopal church for a confidential appointment with a priest.  I expect you will find much understanding & gain knowledge on this subject that will bring you and your convictions in line with your faith & spiritual journey.

I invite anyone that may need a place of worship, to attend an Episcopal church in your area…. Because the signs the Epicopal church post state “All are Welcome”….and they mean ALL…all races, gay or straight, male or female, etc… The diversity is beautiful at the Epicopal church.

If you wonder what my beef is in the equality game of equal human rights, then I’ll tell you. As a white minority female in engineering for over 30-years, I have known gender bias, rudeness, & chauvinist pig behavior throughout my career & academic training… As well as, in my Sothern Baptist Church experience where women are considered unequal to men by being forbidden to perform certain tasks.  For example, at most Baptist churches in my experience: a woman could not become a preacher or deacon leader, read scripture to the congregation, perform certain service roles, etc. I had male cousins my age trot off to seminary, yet that door was closed to me.   Not an option. So, when I suggest the Episcopal Chuch as a resource to you,…. it is because I know first hand what hatred & ugly unfairness is all about among the insecure male population of this world… the Epicopalians offer a warm, loving faith community to nurture your heart, mind, & soul. It is a refreshing church to which I belong.
I feel that my God does not close ANY doors to anyone.

VIRGINIA ….56% Support Marriage Equality….Hurrah!!!

“Support for marriage equality is even spreading south of the Mason-Dixon line to Virginia. A recent Washington Post poll found that 56% of Virginians support the freedom to marry — a 10% increase from support in 2011….”

Twitter ‘Hate Map’ shows where racist, homophobic, and offensive tweets originateMay 14, 2013
John Koetsier

Students at Humboldt State University in California individually reviewed 150,000 geocoded tweets containing racist, homophobic, or otherwise offensive terms to build a “hate map” indicating where people in the U.S. are most bigoted.Or, at least, where they’re the most open about displaying their antisocial views.

The picture doesn’t look good for the Eastern states, although admittedly the bulk of the population is there as well. Areas in Virginia, North Carolina, Texas, and Alabama show up bright red on the map, as do areas in more central states Indiana, Iowa, and Minnesota.The map is part of a larger project, called the Geography of Hate, by Humboldt State professor Dr. Monica Stephens. The data that forms the map comes from an analysis of every tweet posted between June 2012 and April 2013 that contained at least one of 10 designated “hate words,” including dyke, fag, chink, gook, wetback, and cripple.Source: Hate Map

California seems relatively hate-free

But while the original list of tweets was generated by a machine, every single one of the 150,000 tweets containing one of the target words was individually examined by undergraduate students. As the project description states:
Because algorithmic sentiment analysis would automatically classify any tweet containing “hate words” as “negative,” this project relied upon the HSU students to read the entirety of tweet and classify it as positive, neutral or negative based on a predefined rubric. Only those tweets that were identified by human readers as negative were used in this analysis.
To protect the identity of potentially racist, homophobic, or otherwise bigoted Twitter users, the tweets were aggregated up to the county level, and counties with high levels of hate speech were colored red on the map. Areas with moderate levels — though still higher than the national average — are varying shades of blue, and unshaded areas were below the national average.
Smaller towns seem to have a higher incidence of hate speech — in Virginia, for example, Palmyra is more hateful on Twitter than Richmond. And in Louisiana, New Orleans and Baton Rouge are less hateful than smaller towns nearby.Read more at

Although I’m heterosexual, I have gay friends & relatives. If I feel uncomfortable with a conservative Christian “cold shoulder” towards me just for supporting gay rights,…. then how much mistreatment/ intolerance must my gay friends & relatives experience?!? My heart feels for them,… for the insensitivity & negative vibes they must encounter. The “love your neighbor as yourself” verse seems to be forgotten by some conservative Christian folks…. love, kindness, & compassion could help foster tolerance, understanding, & acceptance.

At any rate, as a liberal Christian…. here is a link that references the Episcopal church’s apology, reasons for welcoming LGBT and providing pastoral care:

“In 1997, the General Convention passed a resolution apologizing for past “sins” against gay and lesbian people. It stated:”

“This 72nd General Convention apologizes on behalf of the Episcopal Church to its members who are gay or lesbian and to lesbians and gay men outside the Church for years of rejection and maltreatment by the Church. … This Church repents of its sins committed against lesbian and gay people — physical, psychological and spiritual — through covert and overt action and inaction. We seek amendment of our life together and we ask for God’s help in sharing the Good News with all people.”

Also, there is a religious tolerance website that has a huge amount of biblical scripture references & information on the subject… from both liberal & conservative Christian points of view that might be useful to anyone interested.

❤PLEASE HELP Bangladesh

….to ensure safety for workers &

…compensate victims of building collapse….

Please take action now and call on Primark, Matalan,Mango and Bonmarche to sign the Bangladesh Fire and Building Safety Agreement to prevent the future deaths of garment workers. It is such a simple action which would save so many lives. These disasters must not be allowed to continue.”

— Petition by Amirul Haque Amin, President National Garment Workers Federation Bangladesh

“End to the avarice”—Vicente Bueso

@Primarkjobs @Mango @Matalan: ensure safety for workers & compensate victims of building collapse Petition by Amirul Haque Amin, President National Garment Workers Federation Bangladesh Over 1,000 people, mostly female garment workers, have been killed in the collapse of a building in Bangladesh which housed factories making clothes for Primark, Matalan, Mango, Bonmarche and other major brands. Over two thousand more have been injured in one of the worst industrial disasters of recent times. Primark, Matalan, Mango and Bonmarche make huge profits off the backs of workers in factories like these. Now they must take responsibility for their actions by ensuring justice for the workers and taking action to ensure this never happens again. For the families who have lost relatives and the workers injured in this disaster, nothing can undo what they have lost. But as they face the terrible consequences of this tragedy it is vital that they are paid full compensation from these companies, including their lost earnings. Our trade union, the National Garment Workers’ Federation, has fought for many years for workers in the garment industry to be able to work safely. The hundreds of deaths from such horrific accidents are heart breaking. This negligence must stop. The deaths of these workers could have been avoided if these companies took workers’ protection seriously Please take action now and call on Primark, Matalan,Mango and Bonmarche to sign the Bangladesh Fire and Building Safety Agreement to prevent the future deaths of garment workers. It is such a simple action which would save so many lives. These disasters must not be allowed to continue. Thank you.

Chief Executive, Mango Darren Blackhurst,
Chief Executive, Matalan Beth Butterwick,
Managing Director, Bonmarche GrouBiagio Chiarolanza and
Franco Furnò, Chief Executive Officers, Benetton Group

I call on you to pay compensation for full loss of earnings to the families who have lost relatives and to the workers injured in the Rana Plaza building collapse in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is also vital that you sign the Bangladesh Fire and Building Safety Agreement to prevent the future deaths of garment workers.

Environment & Sustainability of Life

Methodically eliminate, and replace, U.S. oil companies with alternate clean energy sources…. We have the technology to make it so…sun, wind, water, etc.It serves no purpose to bash oil companies since they will never change… Plus their inferior, environmentally hazardous product is simply outdated,…. superseded by clean technologies.Instead…

BASH HARD the lawmakers with full force of words & music… cause they can help the environment by squeezing big oil as tight as necessary to do the right thing…. & at the same time push harder with encouragement on clean energy development…again, IMO…

FOCUS should be on UNIVERSITY researchers looking for financial backing on clean energy solutions of sun, wind, water, etc… Perhaps such a network is needed…or exists… To foster U.S. energy independence at a faster pace….excuse my frustration but…. this floundering crap has been “discussed” ad nauseum for more than 40-years of my lifetime… If the nonsensical chatter does not soon stop…with fast universal action starting… on the practical mass balance side…my concern is that both the environment & existence/sustainability of mankind on this planet will be unrecoverable… a sorta racing the clock scenario,…with potentially … A much worse state of affairs than portrayed by any “MAD MAX” movie…. truly unfortunate for us all.

Remember that little “walk on the moon” project that consumed the planet’s attention back in the 60s???  Well, think of it as a dwarf next to the more urgent giant  “clean energy now” project required for sustainability of healthy life on this planet.  Now, that is a project worthy to command attention.  I’m not trying to be an alarmist,…..  just saying.. .this is a practical necessity & goal for the planet at large…at least it seems so in the thought processes of my nerd brain.

A few more thoughts on our energy vision….

Also, the clean energy network can tap into engineering societies such as AICHE (chemical) & ASME (mechanical) and other think tank pockets of knowledge.  Like universities…these societies publish much conference info in terms of technical progress on alternate clean energies…. Somehow a network needs to link these technical brains with the know-how with Venture Capitalists… Once the “clean” wave moves…it will be like a tidal wave… And not a damn thing oil companies can do about it… Cause the “bucks” will all be on clean energy…& dumping oil companies as investments….. How ironic….oil companies get dumped by the planet for a change…LOL…. Imagine that!…. sweet planet revenge perhaps….in my dreams anyway.

Slowly, but most assuredly, oil companies are history as we know them today.

If I were an oil company, I’d invest in clean energy….while I still had a couple of bucks….but we need to watch out for that so that oil companies don’t stifle clean energy…as I suspect has happened in some instances…cause they fully understand the tidal wave concept…and so the oil business is presently just an ugly parasite trying to survive… But of course they can choose to stay a worm,….. or to survive, perhaps they could become a butterfly….

Morphing into clean energy leaders… phasing out the oil side of the energy business themselves… I believe the oil industry is at that fork in the road “do or die” decision point these days. I’d certainly back their butterfly effect, if managed in the right way…Such that ultimately it’s a win-win for all… New development, technology, jobs, clean environment, multiple sustainable energy sources, new friends, less enemies, less war, creative environment, ideas abound, sharing is the norm, peace, love, healthier state of affairs….planet earth becomes a nicer place to live…. … hope is that I’m not just dreaming again!

Clearly, it is time to systematically, willfully eliminate and/or change U.S. oil companies…In some fashion, by replacing oil with alternate healthy clean energy sources… Such as solar for example… Here’s just one idea to get the ball rolling in that direction with this AWESOME INVENTION…. LOVE LOVE LOVE the concept of this device….

Solar Energy Powered Window Socket by Kyuho Song & Boa Oh
Just attach the plug on to a window and it will harness solar energy. A small converter will convert it into electricity which can be freely used as a plug when you are in the car, on a plane or outside. The Window Socket offers a neat way to harness solar energy and use it as a plug socket. So far we have seen solutions that act as a solar battery backup, but none as a direct plug-in. Simple in design, the plug just attaches to any window and does its job intuitively. Credit: Kyuho Song and Boa Oh….

Someone once said: <strong>”IMAGINE there is no heaven…. “

No worries… At the rate & direction our global society is headed…I imagine there will soon be no decent earth surface remaining… to write about or sing with….

No logic really, cause this ain’t Star Trek…

Finite resources for infinite applications in a growing population is a painful type of mass imbalance….

To everyone… Leaders, Lawmakers & Citizens,

With all due respect,  I beg you to take action toward our country’s poor state of affairs regarding the lack of gun control in America.

☼The USA NEEDS to please stop the idiocy and START GUN CONTROL as a protective measure for citizens. The seemingly challenged wonders in congress can simply follow what was done by lawmakers in Australia as a guide… It took the Port Arthur slaughter by ONE gunman in Tasmania for Australians to put strict gun control in place…as have many other CIVILIZED NATIONS.. . .

….Not a math question guys, only a common sense answer of logic & heart is required.

I am ashamed & embarrassed that the USA is so slow to step up to the plate for citizens on this key issue.

Out of curiosity, I attended a gun show once with my husband in Harrisonburg VA. Both of us felt it was a creepy crowd there with a strange, unhealthy vibe. My husband was not easily freaked out either. He was an extreme sports, fearless person at 6-ft5-in tall that was ex-Australian army with horrific military experience of conflicts in Bosnia. He whole-heartedly supports gun control, as do I.

As a hunter with a varied gun collection, Dad always taught us how to use/handle guns properly. Interestingly, he said “the only purpose for a handgun is to kill people, cause it’s not used to hunt animals.”

At a minimum, handguns need to be banned. Perhaps hunters can keep licensed shotguns, rifles, & muzzle loaders. Personally, I feel ALL should be banned but…. a compromise to ban handguns only would be a great move in the right direction.

☾BTW, I grew up in the country, so I know how hunters ‘love’ their guns… Nevertheless, feel you can ‘love’ them just as much at at a legal gun club & target shoot to your heart’s content there… Where guns are controlled & locked down l…. as I understand is done in Australia….

But you miss the chase, you say?… Then get yourself a foxhound, beagle, or whatever hound dog you prefer…and listen to the chase to your heart’s content, without a gun in tow.  If you feel the need for a placebo to help wean yourself, then take along a walking stick & camera.

Need to feed your family, you say?…

Ha, you’re not Daniel Boone & this is no longer frontier land….

You get all your food from the grocery store like I do…except for an occasional deer, turkey, or rabbit,  perhaps… And that’s not exactly helping curb that pesky deer population, now is it? There are varmint traps, & other methods to take care of pesky critter situations.

I cannot think of a single reason why a person cannot accept & live with gun control in America….

Let’s see, how did that go…. “home of the brave,…home of the free”……

The current reality translation of that verse is “home of the INSECURE,

home of the IMPRISONED”….

alternate translation: “clinging onto a gun to feel like a big man”… sorry, but

stupid is very strong amongst lawmakers & citizens opposing gun control….

as a result, innocents are dying all over the country at the hands of licensed/unlicensed guns….to achieve what?….

to support your stupidity & insecure feel good fake manliness!!!!

Good citizens are imprisoned in their own homes for long hours as they watch a swat chase thru their city…

seems to me it’s time everyone realized once and for all….

Contrary to how some people feel, manliness and freedom have nothing to do with the size of your gun, how many guns you own, or your marksmanship skills.

Freedom is not about the ‘right to bear arms’ like a madman.

Freedom is about the right to live in a society free from fear that you or a loved one will be shot to death by a madman in a random killing spree.

Freedom should include the right to legal gun club access for gun owners.

I often wonder how many innocent lives might have been saved at VA Tech, Sandy Hook, etc…..

if only we’d taken action to put in place a robust gun control system…

but to my dismay,

for whatever reason,

lawmakers have not gotten their act together to protect a person”s freedom to stay alive, to enjoy life…

ya know what, I also hope….

I HOPE lawmakers take action NOW to regulate guns for all our sakes…

Without gun control, we are just a negligent nation playing a sick game of ‘Russian roulette’ with innocent lives….

Aren’t the lives of our nation’s children worth anything to you?

This is one citizen that would LOVE to see immediate action by lawmakers to pass strict gun control legislation.

Mr. President, with all due respect, that sure would be an awesome legacy to have associated with your name, don’t you agree!?

I cannot ordinarily predict the future, but in this case it’s safe to say, both you & I know… that we cannot keep living in the current environment & expect the issue to ‘go away’ of its own accord…..

Without  strict gun control in place… sadly, we all are united in this prediction…

senseless murder will happen again….
and again… ad nauseum,
ad infinitum…
to innocent souls in the USA.

///// song lyrics translation: only dirtbags want guns
❥Currently our country’s lawmakers operate  under this intoxicating beautiful
♫”National Anthem”♫  by the lovely Lana Del Rey……

“Money is the reason
We exist
Everybody knows it, it’s a fact
Kiss, kiss
♫.. … . .

It’s a love story for the new age
For the six page
Want a quick sick rampage?
Wining and dining
Drinking and driving
Excessive buying
Overdose and dyin’
On our drugs and our love
And our dreams and our rage
Blurring the lines between real and the fake

Dark and lonely”

❥Lawmaker boys & gals…. Even thru your greedy haze,…..

………. you recognize your anthem’s words below, don’t ya?

“Money is the anthem of success
So put on mascara, and your party dress”

❥. . .and, let’s sing your other song, shall we?…

♫”Home Of The Brave” ♫
“Everything’s gonna be alright boys
Help is on the way
Hold your head up high now
There’s no need to cry now
We’re not running anymore
Leave the politics behind boys
They’re not working anymore
There’s so much more at stake here
It’s make or break here
Haven’t we been here before
Tell me what we’re waiting for
You gotta remember
You don’t have to be afraid
You still have the freedom to learn
And say what you wanna say
You gotta remember
Don’t let ’em take away
The land we call the home of the brave
Who sings the song of the people
You don’t hear it anymore
I heard it late last summer
To the beat of a different drummer
It never sounded quite like this before
So you’re trying to shake this feeling
That trouble’s right outside the door
You lie awake each dark night
Like a time bomb wound up too tight
A storm in waiting just offshore
Tell me what we’re waiting for
You gotta remember
You don’t have to be afraid
You still have the freedom to learn
And say what you wanna say
You gotta remember
Don’t let ’em take away
The land we call the home of the brave
[Instrumental break]
You gotta remember
You don’t have to be afraid
You still have the freedom to learn
And say what you wanna say
You gotta remember
Don’t let ’em take away
The land we call the home of the brave
[repeats 2x]

❥Just  in case you might be still haze impaired….

I’ll help translate,…. This part is critical….

“You gotta remember
You don’t have to be afraid
You still have the freedom to learn
And say what you wanna say
You gotta remember
Don’t let ’em take away
The land we call the home of the brave”
✿❥✿✿❥✿ USA ✿❥✿✿❥✿

♥☼☾☆♫ Bottom line translation….

 You still have the ability to learn a path forward… to make a change in the law to enforce strict gun control across the nation.  That will help stop the madmen from using guns to enslave our basic freedom to live in this “land we call the home of the brave.”

Biotech Machine design • Idea Toward Solution for World Hunger

Put  together links to an old machine design paper….not sure if you’re interested in that…shared it with a senior level mechanical engineer that used to report to me… If nothing else he will laugh at some my mechanical schematics…… Its for a good cause 🙂

This poster prompted me to recall that old paper with my algae idea…

Sea slugs consume algae… So why not humans? 🙂

A college chemistry automation class paper…. on a contraption/concept  designed to grow & harvest algae with colloidal gas aphrons (CGAs)…. as an alternate food to help feed people of the world…

1982 Paper…approx. 10-pages… includes schematics & software flow charts…located in my album ‘Papers’…. Might only be pie-in-the-sky idea….Concept requires feasibility study to determine viability….  I don’t have resources or health to pursue it…  Needs biotech ME such as FB friend Nick Nixon to evaluate/pursue.  Perhaps a version of this biotech / machine design will be built someday. 🙂

My story…
Bully-Molester encounters during grades 3-4 (spanning ~6months)

A FB posting by Shannyn Moore brought out my feelings toward child molesters….and my personal experience….as a matter of fact, you can see me ‘wade’ in with a couple of brief comments before I get into the lengthy comment venting feelings…. It was a little tearful to type and repeated myself a few times, but overall I felt good by the time I finished sharing ….felt that perhaps the sharing might ignite a spark somewhere that will affect positive changes.

BTW,… Difficult for victims to speak up because of the hideousness and painfully memories/scars…. I am 59-yo now, but one never forgets stuff like this. Great feeling though to stop these monsters. Truly monsters of which nightmares are made. I apologize if you find this offensive but it should make you feel uncomfortable enough to take action toward helping to end this behavior… No matter how small the action…. To get started…. Follow the 3 steps outlined below…

♥1. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~Read this,& check your feelings on the subject

Shannyn Moore, I wrote a column:

While discussing the “medically necessary abortion” bill, Coghill asked, “Why wouldn’t somebody (promptly report rape or incest)?”

Doctor Coghill, oh, sorry, you’re not a doctor.

Mr. Coghill, sir, you are either willfully daft or cruel.

As one Alaskan put it this week, “If Coghill doesn’t know why women might not promptly report rape or sexual abuse, maybe he should call the pope.”

Shannyn Moore: Legislature failing at vetting bad bills……

A friend of mine just returned from Juneau. “Shanny, it’s a scary ride down there. The wheels are still on the bus, but the brake lines have been cut.”

Suzanne Hickman shared. good one (as usual) shannyn.

Merwyn Ambrose Question to Sen. Johnny: Are yiu saying that you no longer rape your wife?

Cue Johnny’ s denial, “I have never raped my wife!”

Question: Why haven’t we heard that from LuAnn?

Don Liston Merwyn, is it your complete lack of respect for others that inspires you to write things like this on Facebook?

♣Sue Hite Well said Shannyn!

♣Sue Hite “Willfully daft or cruel”… soooo very true!!! Coghill should be ashamed to show his face in public, then again…he is a totally unaware, dense, daft…jerk.

♣Sue Hite Ok Shannyn, pardon me but this Coghill nut-job has me torqued… Thus, I feel the need to come out of my shell & vent about him …along with a personal public statement of my own…

Over several months spanning grades 3-4 I experienced bullying & molestation by a teenaged boy both at school & on the bus… Luckily, a combination of my kicking, hitting, biting & fighting with the guy’s premature abilities prevented actual rape…but the assault was scary enough…. cause at that age I did not understand what was happening… Not a clue. I never told anyone about it until many years later… Upon learning of his death in a car accident, I blurted out ‘could not have happened to a nicer person’ to my parents… They said ‘don’t be rude’… which lead me to tell them about it….will never forget how my Dad’s voice sounded when he reacted with simply a low sounding “ooh No”….after months of crap from that guy I was too afraid to tell anyone…just did not understand how to handle it…but knew he needed to be stopped… Finally I turned him in to the librarian for not letting me pass on the staircase while on an errand for my teacher…he was skipping class, I was a nerd on a teacher’s errand…he threatened to take his pants down on the stairs, laughed that I would never get away..cannot express how trapped & angry I felt….so I told him to let me pass or I would tell the librarian…he did not, so I told… Known for her strictness she literally flew to my rescue…he was still on the staircase, probably thinking I would chicken out… Am forever grateful that she grabbed him by the collar & hauled him to the principal….and that was just for not letting me pass on the staircase (can only imagine if she knew the rest)…at any rate, the boy never bothered me again…thank God! I was very happy! Especially glad not to be forced to sit with him on the bus and listen to his filthy mouth…total scum.

As an aside, that neighbor boy used to help get up hay on the farm… I recall all the kids watching at the barn as he let us pet the mouse he’d caught…it was the cutest thing…as we gushed about it’s cuteness…this boy swiftly…as we watched in horror (no time to look away or get away)…took out his pocket knife and tortured/killed this little defenseless mouse….I have often wondered how many other defenseless creatures he harmed…clearly I was not the only one.

With that prefaced confession, I feel it is a mean thing for me to say here…but IMO…. Coghill needs this same type of experience in order to check his feelings/ intelligence…. I wonder if he were raped / molested as a child or adult how he would feel….perhaps a useless exercise since I suspect he is a cold nut-job void of any feelings whatsoever.

Seriously, perhaps we need to design a feelings/intelligence weeding-out test for ALL politicians nationwide…all levels of state & federal government….before being allowed the privilege of having their names on a ballot.

If legislators would take action with ever present vigilance to prevent this abuse, educate citizens & help eliminate the victim’s fear/ shame it would be so worthwhile for everyone. I chose to ‘tell’ in the hope it may be a tiny contribution toward helping someone understand this ongoing social issue. Besides, it feels really good to get it off my chest.

Gotta LOVE Shannyn Moore….

Preface — My home church family is very dear to me. Any negative feelings I had growing up were not toward individuals….but toward the church doctrine that was/is biased against women. image

🙂 Haha, Ya never know…both football players could be atheists…  I suspect it’s just a hot button ploy to get the other guy to drop the ball… Looks like he’s losing his grip, both  literally & figuratively. 🙂 Thanks go out to Les Norman for sharing this photo. I’m not an atheist but, I know freaky…..nothing turns my stomach more than someone trying to ‘convert’ me to anything… It’s basically saying “here you have no brain, so I must insist you take a chunk of mine”… Hopefully my meaning will be understood in this write-up of feelings/beliefs… It is not my intent to offend anyone.  My words only express my feelings toward the church, not toward any one of you personally. I can understand, having been raised in a southern Baptist church, how that freak mentality can drive one to drink or atheism or whatever… You can tell this is a hot button for me… I just believe people have free will to make up their own minds…. Not my business who believes what…cause I also believe in free speech, religious freedom, and equality for all. image At this point some are thinking but we were commanded to be ‘freaky’…. No, we were not… We were commanded to witness by example & share with respect…. Not assume ignorance and annoy others…. That’s where that phrase …’holier than thou’ originates.    Just assume nothing.  Here’s an example of a wrong assumption from my personal experience…. Pushy freaks I know well……..One of the most insulting was a holy-roller style Baptist preacher that used to yell or speak VERY LOUDLY at the congregation….. that we’re all going to hell…   As a young person it really torqued me… Because he had zero clue what was in my heart, mind & soul… I think that is what imprinted me so strongly that no one really knows another persons constitution. How dare he say that… It struck me as most freaky….. especially since he repeated a worthless version of that sermon every week…. Didn’t he know that you ‘attract more bees with honey?’  If I’d been of age, I’d have never returned to that church.  So, this football player cartoon represents my sentiments exactly regarding annoying freaks.

I discuss religious/social things in person or on FB with family/friends

….only if they want to truly explore…and not sling mindless off-point misleading posters, quotes, etc….. in general,  I actually avoid hot button topics
( politics, religion, sex are the big topics avoided ).   As you can imagine,  I own my mind and am responsible for my thoughts… Which are my prerogative to change however, & whenever I so choose…, plus there’s no ‘converting’ me to faith nuances that I consider wrong due to logic, interpretation or  published scientific fact.
Imbedded in that native Virginian thought process may also be the question of how it came about that I left the Baptist church.  It’s simpler than you might think, but a bit surprising as well.
Along the way, some have given me the impression they think I’m a brainwashed city slicker traitor for moving from VA to NJ…. I’ll be the first to disagree with that thinking, if it does exist.  The truth is closer to me being a “NJ HillBilly” living just 25-miles outside NYC & working only across the bay in Rahway, NJ (the poor version of the Beverly Hill Billy tv show)….as you can imagine, I have many NJ HillBilly adventures to share 🙂
Firstly, there were no Baptist churches nearby so for a while I attended various places, then settled on the local Presbyterian church… After moving, a couple of times it became an iterative process which lead me to attend the Episcopal church… Although I participated no differently than if id been a member…. This demanding job change related process left me feeling like I really should settle on & join a home church… I’m talking a long process over years 1984-1994.   When I relocated back to Virginia I immediately joined the Episcopal church, joined the choir, became newsletter editor, etc.  All was well. I felt settled in the church family of my choice plus… A surprise…. I was not required to give up my Flint Hill Baptist Church membership upon becoming Episcopalian… Thus, I retained my membership to the church in which I grew up… HUGE sentimental value for me since I had/ have many family / friends there that I love dearly. It was a win-win situation! 🙂

image image At this point, I remind you the following words are not directed at any of you…simply an expression of MY feelings… of how MY experiences made me feel forward these churches……please do not take personal offense at my descriptor words as they are not based on a single individual OR church…. Multiple church basis of only my personal experiences….
Southern Baptist Church =
racial bigots, ………male & female chauvinist pigs, ….fearful, ……literal,
‘stupid is strong’ since females are not equal, females forbidden to preach, females forbidden to be a deacon /leader, rare to hear a female read scripture in service ( ok in Sunday school, but not in service?)……    fearful of research/opinions/discussion/ learning/ growth, loud, irreverent & suffocating environment,…..closed minded… You get my picture…….seriously, the wording above is just IMO in reaction to how I have been treated OR to things I witnessed that happened to others.

Episcopal church =
warm, ……inviting, …….accepting, ……caring ….loving …..mindful….. compassionate….
kind…… science & bible are not mutually exclusive…
ALL welcome….any race, creed, color, nationality, female, male, straight, gay, old, young, fat, skinny, uneducated, educated, you name it=welcomed
Supports diversity & equality, independent thought, open to discussion….
Calm not loud, reverent, meditative…..
Sugar & spice & everything nice….
Got issues don’t I?…..LOL…..
       You betcha…but…..don’t we all?
Yet another surprise regarding my church membership….
After a year or so of dual membership, my father ( a deacon leader ) got wind of it somehow and basically ‘read me the riot act’…said that I “play the wild” by belonging to more than one church….  I disagreed because I saw no reason why I could not belong to both… Is there a limit on how many churches a person can have?…a parent might be concerned that their child did not go to church… But to have one too many, what’s up with that? I did not see his point & he did not see mine…this went unresolved for days, weeks, a few months… At first I thought he’d forget about it, and I’d surely never mention it… I put me in a tight spot… Fat chance of that, cause it became his checklist greeting question with every phone call  & every time I went home to visit…”have you decided”….. image

 My thoughts/beliefs/faith best fit the Episcopal church,…. yet so many people I love belong to that specific church… There I go again with that thought of females being worthless to the Baptist church, or feelIng that somehow my freaky self should have never explored various church doctrines…. Should I compromise myself and find yet another Baptist church to attend, or give up my sentimental silliness…or do nothing and keep both, no harm in that…. It took 6-8 weeks to wrestle my thoughts & feelings to a path forward.  Ultimately, tearfully… I sent a letter of resignation to Flint Hill Baptist…. I’d decided that it was more important to honor my father’s wishes out of love & respect for him… That membership did not mean nearly as much to me, as it did to resolve the issue with him.  To this day, I feel happy with my decision… I only wonder what took me so long? 🙂 …it was simply my ‘leave no stone unturned’ mentality that I’d figure out a solution where I’d get to keep both… Also called hardheaded, knuckle-headed, stubborn, persistent silly over thinking self… At least I can laugh at myself about it now… I only mention it because it is a good example of 2 people feeling passionately about opposite views on something very insignificant.

The fact that I’m a born again believer is all God cares about with respect to my soul.  God does not care which church I attend nor where my membership(s) reside…. Nor if any other person ever knows what i believe…and vice versa…. It is a very private, personal relationship that is one on one between an individual and God.  It is not anyone else’s business but your own.  Luckily, we have the protection of religious freedom.   Hope you realize, i use the term ‘freak’ in jest… IMO They are misguided, misunderstood over enthusiastic souls acting with or without respect.  At least that’s my understanding.

imageimage As you may now realize, an alternate hot button word in my mind  is FORBIDDEN….  I was told thru out high school by my father that I would not be going to college… Nevertheless I stayed on my academic college-bound track.   Each time the subject of course selection came up, I braced for another battle over taking typing…. But I had no room in my course load for it… Plus I already knew how to type via my mother’s typewriter.  So, I felt I was forever the disobedient daughter for not taking his suggestion… But decided I was not about to drop math, French , science for typing…

imageEventually it culminated in my being flat out forbidden to go to college, since we were poor & the only suitable career recommended to me by my father did not require 4-yrs of college…. It was the kind of disagreement that had only one answer back from me…. Needless to say, it was dramatic: “watch me, I’m 18yo & you can’t stop me” …. I  left home at age 18 for college & graduate school with help from scholarships, student loans & work-study programs…. & pursued a career in science &engineering. image Overall, my father & I shared many similarities & differences that I feel others do not understand.  Firstly, our looks are similar as are our personalities, storytelling,  love of sweets (chocolate, peppermint,watermelon), gardening, dogs, horses, chickens, nature, ‘dissecting’  (as creature wound treatment or food prep ) curiosity as to how things work, both jokesters… Too many to list here.  However, our differences were less but significant… Role of women in society/church, other social/philosophical issues… Including his belief  ‘spare the rod, spoil the child’ which I felt was unnecessarily harsh, even though my smart-mouth coupled with boundless curiosity may have placed his discipline skills in question… At least to my mind.  As the years passed he created many homemade ‘farm’ original mechanical designs, performed electrical wiring at the house/barn… He could build many things, & did… Never realizing that he was an engineer at heart… I’d tell him about the industrial equipment adventures I experienced and he actually seemed to enjoy my work stories… Over time I realized we both had changed, mellowed, accepted… I think he realized it too… And choose to believe that is why he made that family apology at Thanksgiving… Also he was finally able to eat a meal in a Japanese restaurant after more than 60years after returning from that awful pacific campaign in WWII…. My father was a key influence  on my thoughts toward religion, science, engineering, honor, integrity, & respect …without either realizing it until later …probably since we were more alike than our stubborn selves cared to admit.

image image I’m not sure if this makes sense or not… Difficult to explain since the  ‘freak’ image relates to my church history, which relates to the history of my relationship with my father, and relates to school & career choices… All in one giant melting pot….  My mother played a huge role too, but I deliberately left her out of this writing… I will mention her influence was equal to Dad’s… she had a 2-yr business college degree by age 21  & a sensitive artistic nature in creating many things. image I hope I’ve explained it all well enough to be understood …one final observation is that like my father I notice minuscule insignificant “curiosities” of sights & sounds…a country perceptive way possibly.   We differ in how we process, interpret  & store all that extra data.. I do not know the formula for it… He processed it or reflected on it by being outdoors…hunting, gardening, builing farm things etc.  I did some outdoor actives too, plus art & music …the best way to describe it is like my iPad & iPhone ….when Dad & I were in sych our thoughts meshed perfectly on issues… But when out of sych, we had a terrible time communicating from different pages of thought…. He as a parent/ adult, and me as a child/teen/adult , struggled on parallel paths throughout life’s journey.  I feel that is, more or less,  how it  goes for everyone… The sum total of your experiences contribute to your various beliefs… And, it is nearly impossible to capture how it shaped your path exactly.  Also, difficult for me/others to explain since it covers feelings of faith, love, hope, forgiveness on a spiritual, philosophical & intellectual level. image image ~~~ The End ~~~ image                 “The soul would have no rainbow if the eyes had no tears.” —Laurel Burch

It has been about 3-years since starting my ordeal, and I could write volumes. The experts do not know what caused all of my post-op neurological issues. Primary theories are 12-hr anesthesia coupled with scar tissue & crushed brain stem… The final phase of the surgery used titanium mesh & fatty tissue from the abdomen to close… so I am literally a ‘metal head ‘…too bad I’m not a fan of heavy metal music though! Recovery has plateaued,… despite ongoing struggles, there is always hope & prayer.

Private vs. Public MSG on Corporate vs. Public Platforms

Corporate Platform (Emails)

“Yes, email at work is not private, but that is a company policy. At work is one thing, where many people are working towards the same goal. An email sent by one person on the team may have information other team members need.” Everyone at a job understands their emails may be forwarded, copied, or published.

Public Platform (PM on SC + FB MSG)

On sites like Facebook and SoundCloud, common courtesy instead of corporate policy rules. “There are public posts, which everyone realizes are not private… and personal messages, which everyone assumes to be kept private. If I send you a SoundCloud PM, I don’t expect to find it on a website somewhere. If I had wanted it to be public, I would have posted it as a public comment on one of your posted tracks.”

“The same is true of Facebook. If I want others to read what I write, I will post it on your wall,” my wall, or in public comment. ” If I want to write something for your eyes only, I will send a PM. If I later find my PM on a website, I will be greatly offended and you will have lost my trust. ”

“It would be like me sending you a personal hand written snail mail and you going down and having the local newspaper publish it for the whole city to see.” While posting/sharing PMs may not shed any bad light on the originator, the sender may fear that anything that is sent to you in “PM might end up on the Internet for the world to read, including future employers. ”

Corporate vs. Public Platform Emails/MSGs

My thinking used to be…… I’d never share a confidential FB/SC MSG of a personal nature, but a ‘harmless’ content MSG would be fair game….However, even that is wrong w/o permission from the originator….. cause what I consider to be ‘harmless’ might be info the sender wants kept private from current/future employers or for whatever reason. The idea that an employer or some other party might read something not intended for them is a definite concern. That part never occurred to me…. I used to think as long as the content of a PM was harmless, then it is a non issue who might see it….. However, I get the point above in that a person may share seemingly harmless info in a PM…yet it may be info an originator prefers an employer or whoever not have access to in public…..

So sorry, I did not think of it from that perspective…..and have shared a couple of ‘harmless’ content PMs in blog. I’ve taken down those PMs from the blog and will refrain from ever doing that again….. So, my brainwashing of email courtesies from work failed to include the public view of email such as this on the SC platform. I now understand how one might feel and fully understand the common courtesy convention. My posting/sharing of PMs was wrong… due to my ignorance on the matter. I sincerely apologize to those folks that may have been offended from my sharing/posting a seemingly ‘harmless’ PM.

I am a person of integrity….A biotech leader entrusted, at my boss’s VP level & all levels in the ethical drug making industry, of corporate secrets & confidential matters of all sorts for over 30 years as described by my LinkedIn profile….. And so my previous views of PMs are based on that experience. I now see that the public platforms are very different from corporate. Until recent months, I’d not spent much time on any public platform…. It’s refreshing to know the difference….a relief to know, really.

Cannot believe the idea of not wanting current/future employers to view things did not occur to me. I guess since I’d not used my FB page much, until discovering SC in Dec,…… I spent most daylight hours online with work stuff… So when I’d come home, the last thing I’d want to do was get on the computer….

Nearly all games are there (see link below)….even sudoku …I miss those games …as well as the players skill & cultural exchanges in chat. Game link only available on PC ( not on iPad ). Game site is also on FB. ]]]•—

I truly appreciate my cloud friend taking the time to explain this platform distinction so well to me from their point of view. I had reached out via PM request inquiring as to their specific views when I was researching this topic. After a few days passed, another cloud artist friend said they were glad their friend had “warned” me regarding this matter. So, by my PM count in various discussions…. there seemed to be three male & one female artist involved in this gossip ring on cloud.

Sounds to me as if I was the subject of nonsensical inaccurate idle gossip by several insecure men. Interestng, since I’m just a listener, not a musician,… thus I’m not a competitor in the music field. Well, the explanation for this unnecessary whirlwind is simple.

Those gossiping male-hens from sound cloud have said things to me in private that they do not want published. Some have even asked questions of me in public & private where they did not like my answers…. these guys are examples of control freaks that prefer “yes” women. And, if they don’t understand they runaway crying, instead of seeking clarification. Essentially each was accustomed to a certain dinension sandbox, outside of which they could not function. Understandable.

Sorry cloud boys, you did not receive your desired responses from me because I prefer to steer clear of people without a lick of sense. My female friend was frightened by your trash talk regarding this subject. I hope she realizes how wrong you were to tell her such garbage…. for what purpose…do tell… to make youself “sound” better than a listener?!

Now for my common sense “warning” to such gossiper & any other naive persons online:

Governments, employers,& so forth are closely monitoring online info nowadays.

I most definitely don’t want to compromise anyone’s trust.
Be smart. Don’t compromise it yourselves.
Best regards,

Greg’s awesome as always…. Love his sound!!!
